Amy Allia BHSc (Nut & Diet)

Amy has practised as a Dietitian since graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2008. She has worked in a range of clinical specialities within adult services including surgical, tube feeding, gastroenterology, renal and oncology. Amy has a particular interest in gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel disease and gastrointestinal surgery including surgical weight management.

Amy provides care to gastroenterology inpatients at Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital and outpatients at Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Young Adult Health Centre in addition to Health and Wellness Services. 

 

Stephanie Brown, APD. BHealth Sci (Nut & Diet).

Since graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2004 Stephanie has practised as a clinical dietitian in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Stephanie has experience managing the dietetic care of individuals across a broad range of clinical adult specialties, with particular passion for gastroenterology, surgery and critical care.

 

Elin Donaldson BHSc (Nut & Diet), BA (Sports Science), APD

Elin has practised as a dietitian since 2010 across a range of clinical specialties within adult, paediatric and women’s health. She has a particular interest in maternal health services, providing nutrition advice and counselling around preconception, pregnancy and nutrition for new mums. Elin has also completed the Dr Rick Kausman “If Not Dieting” training program and incorporates many of these principles and strategies into her consults.

In addition to working with Mater Health and Wellness clients, Elin provides dietetic care to patients of the Mater Mothers’ Hospital and Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane

Ra’eesa has practiced as a clinical dietitian since her graduation from the Queensland University of Technology in 2005. She has gained a broad range of experience in clinical dietetics having worked across most acute areas in the hospital setting. Ra'eesa has a special interest in ‘nutrition support’ and is currently undertaking her PhD investigating the role specialised nutritional products may have in improving blood sugar levels in critically ill and patients after surgery.

 

Melissa Gilroy, APD. BSc.GradDip (Nut & Diet)

Melissa has worked across all areas of dietetics clinical hospital and community settings in Queensland since graduating in the mid-1990s. Her expertise is in neonatal and paediatric dietetics. Melissa finds working with parents and children very rewarding.

Dione Jacka has worked as a dietitian since 2000 in a wide range of adults and paediatric clinical areas in health settings across Australia and in the UK. She has worked in hospital and community settings in Sydney, the Kimberley region of WA and regional Queensland, as well as London and regional England. She has a special interest in child and infant nutrition, and working with families to promote healthy eaters and enjoyable mealtimes.

Dione currently provides a dietetic service to Mater Children’s Private Hospital and Paediatric Health and Wellness clinics. She also collaborates with other allied health team members to ensure best outcomes for families in preterm babies developmental group and ‘Feeding Therapies’ clinic.

 

Caroline Kratzing, BAppSc (Food Sc & Nutr), M Nutr&Diet

Caroline graduated from the Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics at Griffith University in 2005. Since then she has worked as a clinical dietitian for adults throughout Australia as well as in Cambridge, UK. She has extensive experience in nutrition support, oncology and haematology, intestinal failure, transplant, surgery, critical care, neurology, respiratory diseases and gastroenterology.

Caroline has a special interest in helping improve nutritional status before, during and after oncology treatment, managing the nutritional demands associated with cystic fibrous and modifying meal plans to help control seizures for adults with epilepsy.

Caroline brings positive and enthusiastic dedication to achieving positive outcomes through evidence based practice, encouraging client engagement, nutritional education and service improvement.  

 

Clare Kreis BHSc (Nut & Diet), BAppSc (HMS),  GradCert (Remote Health Practice- Allied Health), APD

Clare has been practicing as a dietitian in both public and private settings since 2008 across a range of clinical specialties. She has experience with both paediatric and adult population groups and has a strong passion for educating all patients on the importance food and diet has in shaping health and wellbeing.

In addition to her experience as a dietitian in remote communities of Queensland, she also enhanced her clinical skills as a dietitian in the United Kingdom for two years working across a range of community and hospital settings. 

Clare has a strong interest in adolescent nutrition and has experience with diet therapy for eating disorders, cystic fibrosis, malnutrition, nutrition support and pre- post-surgical patients. She enjoys educating patients and their families and can assist patients of all ages and all medical backgrounds with diet therapy at Mater Health and Wellness.

Denise graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1996, and completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics in 1997. She has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient caseloads in both public and private hospitals. Denise has worked at the Mater since January 2003 and worked in several hospitals throughout Queensland including the Bundaberg Base Hospital, Rockhampton Base Hospital, Gold Coast Hospital and the Royal Brisbane Hospital before commencing at the Mater. 

For the past 17 years Denise has specialised in the areas of neonatal and paediatric nutrition.  Her positions within the Mater have seen her work in a variety of clinical areas including intensive care, infant nutrition, nutrition after surgery, nutrition in renal disease, nutrition during cancer treatments, as well as rehabilitation. She currently has a special interest in preterm nutrition, nutritional support of critically ill infants, and infants and children with slow growth.

 

Debbie Tolcher, APD. BHealth Sci (Nut & Diet), BAppSci (Human Movements)

Debbie has been a dietitian/nutritionist for over six years. Her experience spans across Australia and the United Kingdom—including locations such as Bundaberg, Cambridge (England) and Wales. Debbie joined the Mater Health Service early 2008 working in Mater public and private hospitals.It has been during this last two and a half years that she has developed a strong interest in working with oncology and haematology patients, and joined the Health and Wellness Clinic to provide a specialist service to this population.

Of particular note—Debbie recognises the importance of assisting patients to achieve the best possible nutritional status both prior to, during and after their course of treatment.

 

Jessica Moir APD. BHealth Sci (Nut & Diet)

Jessica graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2011 and has since been working as a clinical dietitian at Mater Health Services. She has obtained significant experience in managing the dietetic care of both paediatric and adult populations and has worked across all areas within the Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital and Mater Mothers Hospital.

Jessica has obtained extensive experience working within a maternity/women’s health and oncology caseload and has a passion for ensuring clients are provided with a thorough and personalised approach to their nutrition care. 

 

Alexandra Walker APD. BHealth Sci (Nutrition), MNut & Diet (Research)

Alexandra graduated from Griffith University in 2010 and has been working as a clinical dietitian at various hospitals in Brisbane and Hobart.  She has gained extensive clinical experience working across both paediatric and adult populations. Alexandra has a particular interest in oncology/haematology and paediatrics.

 

Belinda Camilleri, APD. BHealth Sci (Nut & Diet).

Belinda has worked as a clinical dietitian for 9 years including four years in London and the United Kingdom.  She has a broad clinical knowledge having worked in a wide range of areas.

Belinda has developed a strong interest in the area of oncology and haematology and has worked in leading institutions in London and Sydney.  She has experience with different treatment modalities including radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy and stem cell transplant. Belinda currently works  on the Mater Private Hospital oncology ward and provides a dietetic service to oncology patients in the Health and Wellness Clinic. Nutrition support is vital throughout the cancer journey.  Her aim is to ensure the best possible nutritional status before, during and after the course of a patient’s treatment.

Renee graduated from the University of Canberra in 2009 and has since been working as a clinical dietitian in Brisbane. She has extensive clinical dietetic experience in the areas of gastroenterology, weight management, surgery and oncology. Renee has a strong passion for assisting patients manage the nutritional aspects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and has experience working with clients on the low FODMAPs diet.

Renee also has a particular interest in assisting patients achieve their weight and exercise goals. She is an advocate of the “non-dieting” approach to weight management and enjoys working with clients to achieve a healthy weight. She has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition through the International Olympic Committee and is a Level 1 Accredited Anthropometrist.

Shelley has worked as a dietitian since 1995. She specialises in the area of women's health, including lifestyle change to improve fertility, nutrition for the healthiest pregnancy possible, and practical advice for new mums.

Shelley has a PhD in Health Psychology and her research was part of a community-based healthy pregnancy project, with the focus of her project investigating better ways to support women to achieve a healthier pregnancy through better nutrition, physical activity and smoking cessation. Shelley has also completed the Dr Rick Kausman 'if not dieting' training and incorporates many of these techniques and approaches in her counselling sessions.

Shelley’s current work continues to blend dietetics and psychology—supporting people living healthier lifestyles, particularly through optimal nutrition and supporting the process of behaviour change. At Mater Health and Wellness she provides nutrition advice and guidance for women preparing for a pregnancy, during their pregnancy and for breastfeeding women. She uses innovative approaches and resources, including the Mater Personalised Pregnancy Weight Tracker. She also sees patients for nutritional counselling for weight loss and weight loss maintenance, including before and after gastric banding.
